Hints on Choosing a Screen Name
	Choosing your CompuServe Instant Messenger Screen Name
	Your screen name is the name by which you will be known to all your "buddies" using CompuServe Instant Messenger as well as all America Online members. It will become your CompuServe Instant Messenger identity online.
	Your screen name should: Be descriptive and easy to remember  Be 3 to 10 characters long (using letters, numbers, and spaces)  Begin with a letter  Be unique (no one else can have the same screen name)  Since millions of screen names have already been registered by CompuServe Instant Messenger users and America Online members, you might not get your first screen name choice. Many first and last names and common phrases are already taken. But, don't despair!
	Tips and tricks for finding a screen name: Examples: Add numbers to your name, like your lucky number or a year that's significant to you (such as your year of graduation). Mary95 Use different combinations of your first or last initial and name, or add your middle initial or name.  MaryRSmith Add your social or professional title or other form of address (e.g. Mr, Ms, Dr, Esq).  MrGolden Make up an unusual phrase or word.  Mom4Jones Use a location in your name. yourName NY Use abbreviations and alternate or unusual spellings. yor Naim Substitute numbers for letters in your name.  yourN4m3 Combine several of these tips into one screen name.
	Keep trying and don't be afraid to get creative!  When you do choose a new screen name, write it down along with your password so you have them handy when you sign on to CompuServe Instant Messenger. You will receive an e-mail acknowledging your registration. Be sure to reply to the e-mail within 48 hours to complete the registration process.  Back to Registration
