"1008-17, -23" error message
The known cause of the "1008-17, -23" error message when trying to install the Macintosh AIM client is an older version of the Dr. Solomon's Virex software (version 5.9 or older).
There are three easy ways to get around the problem. Any of the following should work:
- Contact McAfee to get the latest Virex update.
- Install AIM with your extensions off. To do this, hold down your Shift key the entire time your computer is restarting. Run the AIM installer, then restart your computer normally.
- Disable Virex while you install AIM.
